I Gained a Gallery in the Wild - Eps 10 Forest of the Four Seasons (5)
There are many races in the world, but if you were to choose the
race that is most specialized in 'battle', everyone would say the same thing.
It’s
Demon Race. Even the demons themselves acknowledge this.
Horns
protruding from their heads and blue-colored skin. Their reversed eyes clearly
contrast with other races.
They can naturally use mana thanks to
their innate constitution, and their magic power dwarfs that of other races.
All
these elements combine to earn them the title ‘Devil’s Race’, and they truly
live up to this demonic nature by being faithful to their desires.
Title:
Lemme teach you the history of the continent
In the past, the Demon
Race caused havoc, and now the Elves are causing havoc.
History
lesson over!
ㄴ Fr looking at history, the Demon Race were total
thugs
ㄴ There’s a reason heroes keep popping up every era lol
ㄴ
If these bastards aren't kept in check, the world is fucked lol
ㄴ
What kind of life do demons even live?
Their devotion to their
desires made them notoriously vicious in the distant past.
Their
misdeeds were so severe that a 'Hero' appeared every generation to punish and
restrain the 'Demon King'.
The Demon King is the ruler of the Demon
Race’s kingdom, Mephisto, and the Hero is a powerhouse cultivated by humans.
Noble character and outstanding talent. Sincere faith. Mighty divine
power obtained in proportion to these qualities.
These backgrounds
combined to create a continuous fight between the Demon King and the Hero in the
past, resulting in many casualties.
But perhaps they grew tired of
the endless conflict, or maybe they just got bored?
Title: When did
the demons finally get their act together?
They've been quiet at some
point
ㄴ Ever since they got tired of fighting and started that weird
ball game, they’ve been laying low
ㄴ Hey, don’t call it weird! Say
that to a demon, and you’ll get torn apart
ㄴ These guys are lowkey
dead serious about ball games lol
ㄴ They didn't exactly come to
their senses. In the old days, someone even killed a player for scoring an own
goal lolol
(D: An own goal in football is when a player accidentally
scores a goal into their own team's net. I’m afraid to say that something like
that could actually happen.)
ㄴ Wow that's insane, that's insane
lolol
ㄴ Is that why the term changed from ‘suicide goal’ to ‘own
goal’?
ㄴ That’s why Mephisto is super strict about player protection
now
The Demon Race intensely desired a form of combat other than fist
fighting.
They wanted something exciting and thrilling that could be
compared to combat. They were tired of fighting with fists.
So they
put their battles with the Hero on hold, did tons of research, and developed an
entirely new culture.
Ball sports such as soccer, baseball,
basketball, rugby, American football—in other words, ball-based sports.
At
first, the demons themselves were dumbfounded. Why play ball games when they
could just fight?
Why specifically ball games when they could have
gladiators fighting each other, why would they go that far?
But as
time passed and society and laws developed, violence became increasingly
taboo.
Above all, they were starving for some kind of entertainment.
When people have mental leisure, they seek entertainment.
Due to this
trend and the limitations of an era lacking proper entertainment, the Demon Race
inevitably became serious about it.
In that way, the demons who are
deeply committed to dopamine rushes, excluding drugs and gambling, were
completely absorbed in this 'ball game'.
Title: How serious are these
bastards are
If you make fun of them for being weak at fighting,
they’ll just laugh it off. Why? Because they know they're stronger. Originally
on par with Elves, they're naturally strong.
But ball games? Tease
them by saying it's a piece of cake, and they’ll come at you like they’re ready
to kill. Especially in football, when humans won the championship, it absolutely
crushed their pride lol
ㄴ How do you know that?
ㄴ I
teased my Demon friend while playing futsal and got my arm broken
ㄴ
Lmfaoo
ㄴ Lmaoo
ㄴ You asked for it lol
ㄴ Did
you get medical compensation?
ㄴ Yeah, I did. But they told me not to
say that to any other demons unless I wanted to die for real
ㄴ Just
how serious are they about this? lololol
Naturally, it was initially
a culture enjoyed only by the Demon Race. Other races weren't interested.
With
demons potentially invading and blasting magic at any moment, who would adopt
their culture?
But ironically, Human Race was the first race to adopt
Demon Race culture.
You might ask, ‘Why would Human Race do that
when they suffered the most from the Demon Race’s long war?’
It's
because humans have a short lifespan. Generational change is way faster than in
other races.
The generation that remembers the vicious demons of the
past gradually faded away, leaving only the generation that remembers the demons
as serious ball-game enthusiasts.
As such, interactions with the
Demon Race gradually increased, and while accepting their culture, humans came
out with a trick.
Title: Unguardable attack from the Demon Race's
Perspective
Humans: If we have issues between us, let's settle them
with ball games. You guys are super strong anyway.
Demon: Sure,
sure, agreed
Human: But you know it’d look bad if you threw a fit
just because you lost a ball game, right?
Demon: Why would we lose?
lol
And 10 years later, humans kicked their asses
Human:
We won, you losers
Demon: Fuck, war it is
Human: Wow,
you’re starting a war because you lost a ball game? No pride?
Demon:
What the fuck(ꐦ𝅒_𝅒)It's so fucking annoying, but got nothing to say
ㄴ
lmao what can they even do?
ㄴ Is diplomacy really done like that?
ㄴ
It’s a quick summary, but basically accurate lol
Demons are a race
with strong pride comparable to the elves.
They have a history of
toying with neighboring countries with their innate strength, but that was only
in the age of barbarism.
Even as sports culture spread worldwide and
perceptions improved, their pride remained the same.
And humans
cleverly took advantage of that pride by gently poking at it.
The
Demon Race, essentially caught in self-contradiction, focused on diplomacy
albeit reluctantly.
Title: Here’s a fact
Without the Hero,
the Demon Race would have waged war
ㄴ This is a fact
ㄴ
This only worked because they were roughly equal in power lol
ㄴ But
what about the elves?
ㄴ Those bastards just stand back and watch
lolol
ㄴ Mephisto’s close to human territory, so ye ye
ㄴ
Anyway, these Kanpf bastards are useless
ㄴ And now Kanpf are
bitching around?
ㄴ What did we humans even do wrong?
ㄴ
Our ancestors built a country in the wrong place lol
ㄴ All around
are nation of different races lolol
Of course, that’s only half
joking. Sports stayed as just sports.
But because it allowed
overcoming racial differences and fighting fair and square, its popularity
soared sky-high.
A battle where the only advantage is determined by
pure physical strength and skill, without the use of mana.
Above all,
the existence of a spirit of chivalry befitting the era, namely sportsmanship,
also stimulated a sense of romance.
Title: What are dwarves even good
at?
Football and basketball are difficult because they're too short.
Rugby and American football require physiques out of their league. Even baseball
is tough because the strike zone is awkward.
What can they even
do?
ㄴ PassingDwarf) We make the damn balls, you bastard
ㄴ
Lmfaoo
ㄴ Lmaoo
ㄴ Do you make a lot of money?
ㄴ
PassingDwarf) Make fucking loads whenever there's a big tournament
ㄴ
Did dwarves make balls in the old days too?
ㄴ No no, I heard they
used human heads as balls
ㄴ Holy crap ;;
Even though
Dwarves are at a disadvantage with their build and can’t really enjoy it
themselves, they gained all sorts of side benefits.
From balls and
uniforms to various tools. Times being what they are, all the intricate work
goes to dwarves.
As industrialization and commercialization
progressed rapidly, and various tournaments were held, Mephisto transformed into
a cultural nation.
Sports—where one can experience joy, anger,
sorrow, and pleasure simply by watching. Simultaneously, a drug that makes
people mentally ill.
Title: Something weird about beastfolk
They're
the race that loves the quietest sport, baseball, and the roughest sport,
American football, the most.
Why on earth?
ㄴ
OvertlySuspicious) What are you talking about? Baseball is all about cracking
skulls with a bat
ㄴ Fuck that's just fighting lolol
ㄴ
Bench-clearing lololol
ㄴ Beastfolk are super tough so even that
doesn’t faze them lolol
Though popular events differ by country and
race, it remains unchanged that Mephisto is the originator.
Thus,
sports in Mephisto are deeply ingrained in daily life.
A form of
entertainment enjoyed by everyone regardless of gender, age, or social
status.
"No! You couldn't score that?! Are you kidding me?!"
Even
the high-ranking officials of Mephisto are no exception.
A woman
possessing extraordinary beauty despite having blue skin and reversed eyes
characteristic of the Demon Race.
Her pitch-black hair gleamed with
luster, and the ram horns protruding from her head showcased a subtle charm.
Lastly, she had a figure that would set any man’s heart on fire,
leaving nothing to be desired.
"Wow. Even I could score that."
Princess of Mephisto and the next Demon King successor, Kaelin
Rondel Archive.
She was cursing while watching a football match
broadcast through a magic orb.
After the birth of sports, Mephisto
invented various spells for proper industrialization.
The broadcast
magic Kaelin was using now was one such innovation, and it had a pretty wide
range.
"Really, that thing is worth 100 billion Yura? Does the Chaeyu
management have knotholes for eyes?"
Kaelin frowned and clicked her
tongue. A look full of discontent.
As the princess of Mephisto, she
is revered by many. Thanks to her innate strength and background, she faces
little political pressure.
So if something doesn’t please her, she
can clamp down on it anytime she wants. But the moment that meddling touches
sports, it’s a huge problem.
'It can't be helped, but it's so
frustrating.'
The club owner can be a noble. But if they turn it
political, they get kicked out immediately.
Though not legally
stipulated, it's a sort of unwritten rule. After all, sports is a culture
enjoyed by everyone, not just the nobility.
Unless it’s an
unavoidable issue like war, not even high-ranking officials can perfectly
control it.
At best, they can influence it through policies, but
anything beyond that is impossible.
[The match is over! Chaemes
United loses 2-1 at home!]
[Today will be a festival in Moss
Village. They move one step closer to the Challengers League they've been
yearning for!]
[On the other hand, Chaemes City is barely
maintaining their ranking. How did Coach Horen do this....]
(D: I
suppose it was a typo but this three sentence all mentioned Chaemes United which
is contradictory so I took the liberty to change the first sentence ‘Chaemes
United’ since ChenguPrincess support Chaemes United.)
"Ugh."
Click—
Kaelin
irritably turned off the broadcast magic. They blew a match they had well in
hand because of a red cart.
She buried her face in her hands for a
moment, then quietly removed them. And with a blank expression, she accessed the
gallery.
(D: I figured out that Chaeyu is actually an abbreviation of
Chaemes United. I still don’t know about some others including ChaengguPrincess
but I will update when I figure it out.)
[Chae-Trash! Chae-Trash!
Chae-Trash!]
(D: It’s ChaeJungTak. 중딱. I don’t what this slang
mean so I’ll leave it there in case someone know it.)
[The Chae-U
bastards are trembling~ The Chae-U bastards are trembling~ The Chae-U bastards
are trembling~]
[???: Gotta suck it up, right?]
[Chae-U’s done lololololol]
Psychos flooded the gallery
as soon as the match ended. It's always like this.
Kaelin let out a
hollow laugh and wrote a post.
Title: Asshole reveal
ChaengguPrincess
(Photo
of an emblem with a deer pattern)
Here's my asshole~
ㄴ
lolololol Did ChaengguPrincess lose today?
ㄴ ChaengguPrincess) Oh
my, those dead bitches conceded two goals just in extra time haha
ㄴ
lolololol
ㄴ No wonder the psychos are coming out
Kaelin
wrote something on the gallery and stood up. Her head was too heated and needed
cooling.
I should clean up my room first.'
She looked
around.
From Chaemes United jerseys to various replica trophies. The
room was filled with Chaemes-related items.
It was a room that
someone completely immersed in football would decorate. And that was indeed the
case.
Snap!
With a flick of her finger, all the items
disappeared, leaving behind an empty space.
This area was originally
a training room. A personal training hall designed specifically for Kaelin.
She looked around the empty training hall several times, then
lowered her head.
It was not a dress that stood out, but a plain
uniform that was so plain it was ordinary.
It was a uniform bearing
the name of a player who was once a legend of Chae-U.
Snap!
With another snap of her fingers, it transformed
into a beautiful black dress. All this was done through magic.
Normally, one would need to chant incantations, but Kaelin didn’t
even need that. She could cast magic with just a gesture.
She
carefully checked to make sure nothing was missing and walked to the exit.
At
the exit stood a door with all sorts of security spells and locks.
Creak!
Kaelin
deactivated the locks and stepped outside.
As she stepped out, a
middle-aged butler was waiting with a group of knights.
"You've
worked hard, princess. Have you finished your training?"
"Yes. You've
worked hard too."
"Not at all. It is my duty to serve you, Princess."
The butler bowed his head as he replied. Kaelin patted his shoulder
as she passed by.
It was an expression of appreciation for his hard
work. Emotion settled on the butler's face in response.
A warmth
rarely found in the current Demon King. That warmth drew people’s hearts to
her.
Despite being in an environment where arrogance would be
expected as the next Demon King.
Kaelin is also strong enough to be
counted among the top five on the continent.
Yet, she remains humble
and kind-hearted.
‘Over something so small?’ you might ask, but
remember they’re Demon Race.
Moreover, while Kaelin’s speech may be
formal, she is kind and considerate to everyone, not just the butler.
'However,
she seems to be in a foul mood today. Maybe she didn’t get much from
training?’
The butler thought while following behind Kaelin. Having
served her for many years, he could at least read her emotions.
Today,
her mood was particularly bad. A very bad one at that.
In times like
these, it’s best to stay quiet.
Though kinder than most demons,
Kaelin is still a demon. Provoke her, and magic will fly.
'The
control training that happens only once or twice a week must be difficult for
her.'
The Demon Race is as belligerent as the Beastfolk. They
inherently enjoy battles that determine victory or defeat.
In the
past, that drive exploded into violence that harmed those around them, but not
anymore.
As violence became taboo, learning to control one’s emotions
became crucial.
This tendency is especially important the higher
one's status, because many situations go awry in moments of rage.
Thus, emotional control training is vital, but it’s also exhausting
and painful.
'Hah. Really. This is so annoying. How could they
concede 2 goals just in extra time?'
Kaelin really does do emotion
control training—just differently than most.
As a diehard Chaemes
United fan, her emotions go up and down just watching a match.
In the
past, she struggled to control herself and would destroy the training room
whenever she got the chance. But not anymore.
She's reached a level
where she can move on with a ‘Sigh. Idiotic bastards. Just like you to do
that.’
If nothing else, her mental fortitude was gradually rising to
a level comparable to that of a saint.
'Why am I a Chae-U fan?"
Returning
to her bedroom, Kaelin lay on her bed and reminisced. Why was she into football,
and specifically Chae-U?
She originally lived a life far removed from
football. No matter how much it was a culture that spread all over the world,
she was of the upper class.
Football, in particular, spread from the
lower classes, so the upper class had some disdain for it.
But the
capital derived from culture is something that even the upper class cannot do
anything about.
Besides, culture can’t truly be stopped, and the
moment you try, it spreads even faster.
'Wouldn’t life have been
harder without this?'
This is what Kaelin was taught during her
education. That things like football are watched by ignorant people.
But
in reality, many club owners are nobles. Only some stuffy nobles, including the
royal family, disliked it.
Even they had a good opinion of sports
generally, but soccer was the one thing they had an antipathy against.
That’s
why Kaelin initially didn’t think much of soccer but gradually became obsessed
with it at some point.
The reason was none other than the gallery.
Everything changed when she happened to access the gallery.
Knowledge
she had never been exposed to while growing up like a greenhouse flower, and the
subtle addiction only football could provide.
For Kaelin, born of the
Demon Race, it was akin to dabbling in a new type of drug.
Thus, she
naturally came to support Chaemes United from her local region, and even created
the fixed nickname ChaengguPrincess on the gallery.
'Hah, damn. It's
so annoying that I can't even watch it in person.'
But Kaelin kept
that irritation under wraps in real life, all because of politics.
You
might think, ‘How could something like soccer cause political problems?’
Strictly
speaking, it's closer to a generational conflict. Demon Race may not live as
long as Elf, but their lifespan is still fairly long.
Consequently,
generational changes are quite slow, and many from the older generation who
remember past brutalities still remain.
This older generation firmly
holds the current vested interests, creating a politically awkward situation.
A generation that treats violence-stained glory as honor, and a
generation that has embraced the new entertainment of sports.
As
these two generations collided, the nobility naturally had to pay attention.
With football being the most popular, it inevitably became entangled
in politics.
'Why did I do that.... I did it because I hated seeing
Chaemes City grow...'
On the surface, Kaelin was considered part of
the generation that stayed distant from football.
The reason was due
to the policy she introduced. Specifically, she somewhat restricted Sethan's
gold money.
It was annoying to see those damn Dark Elf use their
wealth to swallow up famous clubs, and above all, her troublesome brother was
the biggest issue.
Originally, Chaemes City was a third-tier team,
but after being fueled by gold money, they quickly rose to become a
powerhouse.
Last year, they even lifted the championship cup at the
world's largest tournament, didn't they?
Meanwhile, Chaemes United
was struggling. Their pride was completely shattered.
Kaelin couldn’t
help but feel furious. So she raised her voice just once.
Title: Vote
for the person Chaenggu fans hate the most
1. Medes Family
2.
Princess Kaelin
ㄴ I understand Medes Family, but why Princess
Keirin?
ㄴ Because of her, the acquisition process got stricter.
Otherwise Chae-U could’ve gotten that sweet gold money too, right?
Title:
Roughly it's like this
Medes Family: Selling Chae-U~ Bargain sale
right now!
Setan: Oh! We’ll buy it! We’ve got the money!
Kaelin:
Hell nah! Not a chance! Immediate policy changes, bang bang bang!
Medes
family: Ah. Because of the policy, we need to raise the price haha
Setan:
Fuck, not buying
ㄴ lmao totally get it
ㄴ But doesn't
Kaelin's statement make sense too?
ㄴ Opinions are split. Either way,
Chaenggu see her as a mortal enemy lolol
ㄴ Doesn't Kaelin hate
soccer too?
ㄴ There’s no official stance, but she probably does?
This
is infuriating for Kaelin. She truly loves football beyond Chae-U.
If
she could, she would attend every game in person. She might sometimes join the
hooligans and cause a riot.
Since she couldn’t, she secretly bought
jerseys and merchandise to soothe her heart.
In exchange, anger
welled up whenever she watched matches, but let's move on.
'Just
wait until I become the Demon King. I’ll proudly attend games in my jersey.'
Football-based sports are a domain that even the Demon King cannot
arbitrarily meddle with. To meddle with it is to turn one’s back on the
people.
This is both the frightfulness and a kind of side effect of
culture. That's why not only the Demon Race but other races became thoroughly
immersed, didn't they?
Numerous spells were invented just to develop
this one culture. Broadcast magic is part of that.
Ironically,
Mephisto is edging closer to cultural victory rather than conquest victory.
'I
don't care about anything else, if only they hadn't made such trash signings.'
Kaelin inwardly sighed and made a tearful face. Her expression
looked somewhat dejected.
Not as the ever-dignified Demon Race
princess, but as a Chae-U fan, her heart was troubled.
To soothe her
heart, the gallery was the best option. There’s still time until the next
match.
'WildGrills.... Why did this human end up in the Forest of
Four Seasons?'
Normally she would post about Chae-U or shitposts
until the match began, but recently things have changed.
Among the
myriad human figures and posts, WildGrills's posts stood out. This was the
person who supposedly fell into the Forest of Four Seasons.
At first,
she didn't and couldn’t believe it. But as time passed, she couldn't help but
pay attention.
First, the number of upvotes was overwhelmingly higher
compared to other posts. This was the biggest reason for her interest.
'Coming from another world? Don't make me laugh.'
Whether it was a concept or they were a lunatic, their words were
sufficient to attract interest.
After all, she had nothing better to
do with her free time. There were still a few days until the next match.
So,
out of boredom and a desire to help, she gave them a compass.
[ChaengguPrincess:
Then just cheer for Chae-U for me. That’s enough~]
[Wild Grills: I
don't know much about this world, but what kind of team is Chae-U?]
"What?!"
Kaelin was shocked. How could someone not know the famous Chae-U?
If
they were from some remote countryside, maybe. But Grills is a gallery user.
90%
of the gallery’s users are nuts, but the most obviously insane among them are
sports fans.
Sports fans are users who have gone crazy and rotted
away.
Some were even so rotted that they attained enlightenment and
became Buddhas.
"You don't know Chae-U? I must teach you then."
Kaelin spread the gospel of Chae-U’s greatness and even gifted him a
uniform.
Grills received the uniform hesitantly. Kaelin didn't stop
there.
She decided to upload a special video and posted a Chae-U
highlights package in the gallery.
The gallery has a save function,
allowing users to upload external videos.
This is why sports
highlights can be uploaded at specific intervals.
How long has it
been since she uploaded Chae-U special video?
Title: As of today, I’m
a Chaemes United fan.
(Photo showing a thumbs-up toward a jersey on
the floor)
Thank you, ChaengguPrincess. Thanks to you, I don't have
to worry about clothes.
ㄴ Ah. The whole world is Chae-U....
ㄴ
Of all things, Chae-U lololol
ㄴ Doesn’t matter since they’re alone,
right?
ㄴ Better than wandering around butt-naked
ㄴ As of
today, this is the Chaemes United gallery
Satisfying. Truly
satisfying.
Kaelin smiled proudly as she read Grills’ post on the
gallery.
Today, Chae-U's fan has increased by one. Although they’re
in the Forest of Four Seasons, a fan is a fan.
If nothing else, this
was the most satisfying. From now on, she could support them to her heart’s
content.
'If a fan dies, Chae-U will be sad too. So I need to support
them diligently so they don’t die.'
If Chae-U’s fans are sad, then
Chae-U will be sad, and that could affect their performance.
It’s a
simplistic way of thinking, but that’s how people are. When thoroughly immersed,
one's thinking tends to become simpler.
Just as Kaelin was about to
contentedly close the gallery, a comment appeared that irritated her.
ㄴ
KingLeore) Why’d you give him that crap? Must fucking reek like hell
"...."
Kaelin's
beautiful eyebrows furrowed. She knows this fixed nickname.
It's a
fixed nickname that likes Leore, Chae-U's greatest rival. At the same time, the
fixed nicknames that Kaelin hates the most.
They never miss a chance
to mock Chaemes and Chaenggu. On top of that, they do a lot of things that get
on her nerves.
(D: Chaemes United is the club and Chaenggu are the
name of the stan. That’s also why ChengguPrincess change to
ChaengguPrincess.)
ㄴ ChaengguPrincess) You're here again~? You must
really have nothing to do~
ㄴ KingLeore) As if you're any different
lol So did we win?
"You fucking turd."
Kaelin cursed under
her breath. Chae-U recently lost to Leore 3:0.
A score that can only
be described as overwhelming. That's why KingLeore can mock them.
'Those who used to be mocked as LeorTrash...!'
Just ten
years ago, Leore was a fallen powerhouse. But after changing their coach, they
regained their status.
Meanwhile, Chae-U has been on a continuous
decline. Even changing coaches hasn’t helped.
ㄴ ChaengguPrincess)
Hehe, we’ll start winning once our club owner changes~
ㄴ KingLeore)
No you wouldn't. Kaelin is still there~
ㄴ Lmaooo look at how they're
scratching the nerves
ㄴ Kaelin next after Medes lol
"...."
How
can they grate on her nerves so precisely? Kaelin's fist clenched tight.
She struggled to control her emotions, and mana began to seep out,
but she barely suppressed it.
Losing her temper now wouldn’t do any
good. She forced herself to calm down.
ㄴ ChaengguPrincess) They say
frogs don't remember their tadpole days, that's exactly right~ haha
ㄴ
KingLeore) What did you say Chae-Trash lol
ㄴ ChaengguPrincess) So
how’d that Master Cup knockout feel? At least we got into the Challengers~
hehe
ㄴ KingLeore) So what's your rank? A whopping 7th place!
ㄴ
It's fierce, fierce lolololol
ㄴ But isn’t Leore more popular?
ㄴ
The fuck did you just say?
ㄴ I'm just stating fact lol
An
impromptu war broke out.
"Um... I’ll just keep my mouth shut.”
Grills
silently watched from the sidelines.
It was truly a wise decision.
|Note
The man just ignited war and left ahahaahhaha.
So there
was some change after this chapter. Like Chae-U, Chaemes, Chaenggu. I will try
my best but please keep in mind that the slang used here is sometimes just
ancient. I also need to watch out with reference of they, she and he. Also the
punctuation, since only a few user properly used them. This adds nuance about
how stiff or formal people tend to use proper punctuation. But also a headache
because the MC change his writing accordingly.
Anyway, if you
appreciate my effort and wanted some advance chapter, please visit my patreon.
I’ll add it sometime later. Since, well, I need to edit some advance chapter
first. That’s it, and sorry for the long note. Have a great day!!!
